Decide how often you will be here
A home you visit on weekends and one you live in every day have different jobs to do. Think about travel time, storage, maintenance between visits and the services you want nearby. Put those needs on your list before you start comparing photos.
Get the access details in writing
Ask where the property boundaries lie and which lake or shoreline rights are included. A view does not establish water access, and a waterfront location does not automatically establish dock rights. Review the documents and confirm the rules with the responsible authority before relying on a planned use.
Give the house a full review
Leave time for the roof, systems, drainage and other condition questions. Check water, septic and internet arrangements at the address. Include taxes, insurance, fees and maintenance in your budget; the purchase price is not the whole cost of owning the home.
Use the showing to test your plans
Drive to the places you expect to use, look at the home’s storage and make notes about each property. Bring your questions to your agent and have qualified professionals assess concerns before you commit. We can help arrange showings and follow up on the information you need.
